Whiten Your Teeth Naturally With Just Two Ingredients

If you want to have strong teeth and gums, prevent bad breath, and break down plaque buildup, you should wash your teeth with baking soda and sea salt. If you want to whiten your teeth, you only need these two natural ingredients – sea salt and baking soda. You can use them individually or in combination.  

Here is how to use baking soda and sea salt to whiten your teeth 

1. Baking soda 

Baking soda, or sodium bicarbonate, is highly alkaline and prevents acids in the mouth that lead to tooth decay. Brushing your teeth with baking soda is one of the most beneficial ways to whiten your teeth. As it is similar to powder, it is perfect for cleaning teeth tarter and plaque.  

Many people use baking soda for maintaining their oral health. The use of baking soda will make your teeth whiter and smoother. Moreover, thanks to its alkaline content, baking soda will get rid of bacteria and mouth germs, which cause bad breath. All you need to do is to apply some baking soda to your toothbrush and brush your teeth.  

2. Sea salt 

Sea salt is very efficient at improving oral health because it is loaded with healthy essential nutrients, such as magnesium, calcium, sodium, iron, silicon, phosphorus, nickel, and so on. These minerals effectively fight against bad breath, protect teeth against tarter, and strengthen the gums.   As sea salt promotes saliva production and saliva makes an antibacterial barrier that protects the enamel, brushing your teeth with sea salt is very efficient.  

Due to its antibacterial properties, sea salt can help neutralize acids in the mouth. All you need to do is to add half a teaspoon of sea salt to your toothbrush and brush your teeth with the salt. Moreover, prepare saltwater and gargle it to get rid of bacteria from the mouth. To prepare saltwater, add half a teaspoon of sea salt to 4 ounces of lukewarm water. Gargle the water for 30 seconds and spit it out. Make sure you do not swallow the water.  

Finally, you can mix baking soda and sea salt to prepare a home-made paste. Mix equal parts of sea salt and baking soda and brush your teeth with the paste. You can use this toothpaste twice per week.  

Side effects of using baking soda and sea salt

Studies show that periodontal health in patients, who regularly brushed their teeth with sea salt and baking soda, has been excellent. No adverse effects were reported.
